Default New GX Owner

Hello Everyone,

My name is Jason. Just purchased an 08GX470 with my girlfriend. Below are the specs:

08, with 87K on the clock.
1 owner, however no service records
scored it for 21K
brand new tires

Hopefully the pics upload and show in this post.

I have been reading on the forum for about 3 days now, and have become familiar with some of the issues with these trucks, i.e. suspension, CEL for gas caps (which is happening to me), and a couple other various minor things. I knew they were near bulletproof from the get go so I feel pretty comfortable with the truck so far as we both are learning all the little cool things about the truck.

Other than a really good interior detail, leather correction, and fixing the tint on the passenger front window, covering to HID's, I think the 90K will be happening right after at quick trip to Whistler.

This is my 2nd Lexus since I owned a 99GS300. Currently I drive an 01 Audi Allroad with some pretty heavy mods, kind of feels nice to get into a car/truck and just drive now and hopefully a lot less tinkering that my maintenance ***** of the Audi.

At any rate -

Cheers.

p.s. I will continue my research, however the current (factory) bluetooth version is probably not 2.0 or higher so supporting BT streaming from a smart phone is not going to happen... anyone have experience either upgrading the BT in the car itself or a having a better work around than the AUX port? TIA - Jason

Nice Truck!

Did you try mylexus.com for service records? Carfax doesn't show the full maintenance history.

Carfax didn't show a thing but carfax is kind of a hit and miss thing anyway...

I will register on mylexus.com and search there! Good call - I totally forgot about that site!

AS FOR THE GRILL - it was there when we bought it... kinda not a HUGE fan of it, but certain not going to pay for a factory grill... Oh well

I don't see many red GX's, but I've gotta say, I like it. I'm especially envious of those nice new Michelin LTX MS/2's. I hope your dash is in good shape. Enjoy.

It is not a sport and it does not have KDSS, which I am actually pleased about. It also has NO tow package, which I am also pleased with, hoping that the rear air suspension still has some life left in it before it needs replacing.

Anyone care to chime in on my OP regarding the bluetooth?

Side note - Full service history available on mylexus.com! Super stoked for that!

You need to find what is the version of the BT you truck is having. OR probably go to your dealer and get the version upgraded. To my knowledge it should be 2.1.3.
Maybe somemore details you could seek from

Grom Audio usb2p along with BT, all hidden and controls over your existing steering control. Bluetooth streaming from your phone and phone calls. If you decide to go for it make sure to buy harness which is for lexus,

I love it!

I have called several local car audio place and they recommend Parrot or FM modulator, after weeks of research I went with Grom, I am more than happy, some people dont like to disconnect cd changer, and I was hesitant. However, the 32gb usb stick and thousands of songs corresponds to cd changer 1 -6 I couldn't been happier Local audio shop didnt carry it and most of them didnt know about grom.

Nice I like the color, I don't ever think I have seen that color running around. Most defiantly get you a Xenondepot HID kit, I have had their kit on for over 3 years with no problems. I have a 2 of their kits one for the Fogs and Low beams--You wont believe the Difference after install

Nice truck, don't see that color often. LOVE the dark interior, wish mine had that.
