Default 2005 GX 470 IPod Adapter

We have a 2005 GX470 with the Mark Levinson stereo and Navigation system. We went to AMS to have an iPod adpater installed, but, it sounded very hollow and tinny. The volume was about 1/2 of the volume for the radio or CD Changer. Has anyone out there had success with adding an iPod adapter? Where should i go to have it done correctly.

I added a VAIS Tech iPod adapter to my 2004 GX w the Levinson/Nav system and it works great. They sell plug & play systems and the part I like best are the OEM-quality cables - first class all the way. All existing systems like the 6 CD changer work just like before and the VAIS is controlled from the existing Nav screen interface, steering wheel controls, etc. . It's a DIY install if you're comfortable doing the dash disassembly steps, or any good stereo shop could do it.

I've had my GX for over two years now and have been wanting to integrate my ipod since I got it and have been wondering just how I wanted to do it. This info you gave us sounds like just the deal. I checked out the website and it looks like a good product so I will be looking into my local car stereo shop to see if they have this product or if not install it for me. Thanks Bob, and this is just why I love this forum so much....

Thums up all the way for VAIS. I've had the first gen converter in my car since 06 and it rocks. No issues at all.

I have the USA spec as well. It's just fine. No need for a pro install if your ok with taking out the stereo. It's about a 25min install and with the USA Spec at least you have to unplug the CD changer. Dunno about the Vias.

To note though: the USA 15 that I have is analog to digital where the newer VIAS I have sitting in a box lol! Is all digital. So it will probably sound a tad better. Not much but a bit. I have just been to lazy to test it out partially cause I am fine with the USA Spec.
