Most trailers come prewired with a 4 pin flat electrical connector for the trailer lights. Your GX470 takes a round one in the socket to the left of the hitch underneath. You need to buy a round to flat connector adaptor which is available at any RV store, or for $10 best price buy at Harbor Freight or Tractor Supply store. The tongue and ball with safety pin that slides into the pintle hitch is also available at those same locations.

I installed this over the weekend. There was an existing mount of some kind already on the frame cross member. I was able to use the same six bolts(and a little red locktite) to mount the "tube sub assembly". The part number is correct 51909-35011.
If you want new bolts the part number is 90119-12361 qty 6.

Purchased mine here
I did visit one local Lexus parts counter. Honestly, even with the right part number, they were not much help and more expensive.

Lucky for me, a guy took one off of his 04 4runner and sold it to me for $40! I removed the bumper cover, removed the mounting plate that was already there and reused the six bolts to put on the hitch. The plastic cover was "modified" to fit and, "voila!"
We've already towed with it and the electrical plug works with the lights after I sprayed the interior of the plug with lots of contact cleaner.
Keep hunting if you want a deal or just pay the $$$ and buy from the stealer.

It's embarrassing that I'm barely getting around to this. But I finally got my pintle hitch installed. I did not have the 17 mm ratcheting wrench which totally sucked. But I managed to do it by just pulling out hard on the bumper. Also for my blue tabs to be removed I just broke the old cover for the two higher ones. Figured I wouldn't be using it ever again.
The big question I have for everyone. Did you all torque your bolts to a certain Pressure?

The torque figures should have been in the instructions that came with your hitch.

Installation torques for the frame mounted hitch:

The 8 larger bolts are M12 -1.25 x 45mm. The 4 smaller bolts are M8 – 1.25 x 25mm. Torque on the M12 is between 60 – 72 lbf-ft and the M8 is 15 – 20 lbf-ft. Be careful on the M8 bolts, I got a little aggressive on them and ended up stripping one out. I needed to re-tap it and fit a different bold. When they say 20 lbf-ft max, they mean it.
I tried uploading a Toyota install sheet for the GX470, same as the 4runner, but the pdf is a little to big to attached. If you want, PM me with your email and I will send you the install sheet.
(Corrected original post, there are 8 M12 bolts not 6)

Thanks to the OP
Thanks to this thread got all my stuff through Ebay and installed myself. 17mm ratcheting wrench makes the job much quicker. I hate those blue clips.....busted one of them too!

Will hitch cover fit 2007 gx470?
I stopped by my dealership and they are telling me they only offer two rear lower bumper covers. One that is flat for no hitch the other is a flair style. The flair style does not have to notch out for the Pintle hitch setup as shown in this thread. It only accommodates the factory tow package with out receiver.
Will the 2003 hitch cover with notch out of cover fit a 2007 or do they have different bumper styles? Some please help point me in the right direction. I have the blizzard pearl white.
Thanks,
Casey

Hey thanks for the photos and instructions!
I dove in yesterday with your advice and the racket with 6" extension, made the job much easier!
It took me about an hour and a half. I too broke the two upper blue clips and did it for the same reason. I did the job without removing the bumper, I just took a bolt and wedged it in there to give me room for my crescent wrench, those two upper bolts behind the bumper took me 45 minutes alone to remove and then replace! Argh!! I used blue lock tight and am now set to haul up to 5,000 pounds!
I picked up my Pintle hitch from the dealer, $249, no instructions included.
I now need to rear cover plate as the existing one now does not fit.
Thanks again for the instruction sequence!
