Land Cruiser for Christmas

2 Attachment(s)
I have been a member for two years and don't plan on leaving. However, two years ago, I didn't pull the trigger on a used Land Cruiser with about 48,000 miles, which is rare for that kind of low mileage. I bought the GX and didn't regret it. I have had to only do oil changes and required maintenance for that time period.

I have been stalking a new Land Cruiser, that has been setting on a show room floor all year. With New Years coming, this will be getting another model year older. It had 20 miles on it and was setting inside all year, not outside. Some wheeling and dealing later, I bought the new Land Cruiser. It has all of the options that are available. Rear DVD, NAV, rear camera with sensors on all 4 corners. Cooler in the console.

With the paint sealant, it is warranted for 5 years, which also includes, dings, dents, or chips in the paint for that time period. It even covers if I hit a curb with a rim and scuff it. The rim is replaced at no charge. All is covered with no deductible. I am not a big fan of paint sealant, however, this car is black and subject to surface scuffs and swirl marks. We will see how that goes.

It obviously has KDSS, but no air suspension/ adjustable ride height. I did a 440 mile road trip, all freeway and put in 22 gallons of gas. That is an actual calculated mileage, not what shows up on the dash board. That surprised me. I was ready for some really low mileage. It takes regular gas, not premium. The Land Cruiser is 1/2 inch lower than the GX. It is 4 inches wider and 6 inches longer. It weighs 5700 pounds.

The only let down, is that the wood is fake, not real wood like the GX.

awesome looking truck. congrats. I am jealous you now have a vehicle that is actually supported by the aftermarket community.

redrocks, thanks. Don't plan on leaving, haven't even looked for a Land Cruise forum.

Blair C, thanks too. Never thought about aftermarket availibilty? Plan to stay stock for a while. Hard to remove the third row seats, you have to un bolt the brackets, which leaves the bolt heads showing. Will let the dealership do that.

Black is beautiful, but what a PIA in the keep clean. Drive safe and enjoy!

Dude. What a SICK ride! Congratulations!

First, and last, time I had a black car was my 2006 Lexus IS250 AWD. ... I had a 'love/hate' relationship with it. ;) But man, when you take good care of it... it's like looking into a mirror ;)

Cheers,
Kermee

CruiserGX, great link. I want to get a few more miles on it first, before modifying. I only have a thousand miles now.

Regarding black, my GX470 was silver. Love silver. However, previous to the GX, all three trucks over the last 18 years have been black. Black is only clean, the minute you finish drying it. Wish I was in Arizona and not Ohio, especially in winter. I found a few things that make black tollerable. I have a deionizer. It is a spot free rinse for home use. It takes all of the minerals out of the water. If working properly, you can let the car air dry out of the sun and it will dry without spots. Most of the fine scratches you get in black, are from drying the car. This truck has been "Xzilon" ed. It should help with surface scratches.

Thanks for all of the comments. I will try and not make this a street Queen.
