Default Owned it a week and then the alternator fails.

The GX has 49k and I have not even owned/driven it for 400 miles when the alternator craps out. I am not really pissed since its a used car and these things happen. Good thing Carmax has a 30day warranty. They towed it to their shop and replaced it with a new alternator. The customer service was great and they gave me a 6month/6000 mile warranty on it too. My German cars had at least 80k before their alternators crapped out

Can't win em all, glad carmax took care of it for you. Their customer service was awesome for us when we bought our GX from em and the DVD/Rear Entertainment system didn't work. Ended up giving us a drive around for a few days since they had to send the car over to the dealership (guess they couldn't figure out why it wasn't working).

You could probably also fix it under warranty with Lexus. You have

- Four-year/50,000-mile Lexus Limited Warranty
- Six-year/70,000-mile Powertrain Warranty
- Six-year/unlimited-mileage Corrosion Perforation Warranty.

All warranties with zero deductible.

I have a 06, bought new and mine went at 25,000. It was covered under the Lexus warranty.

Seems the Alternator has random poop times. Mine went at 103K I read another was 70K etc. etc.. I always expect to need to deal with some kind of headache when getting a used. car.

just replaced contacts in my daughters alternator and starter. 2002 GS300. She has 121,000 on it and the original starter and alternator. Starter brushes/contacts were in fairly good condition and not worn much. alternator brushes were worn down quite a bit. Total cost was under $40 to make them both new again. Got parts from Sewell's.
