Thanks for the photos. You have confirmed that the previous owner of my truck didn't install factory parts (mine are drilled & slotted). Something else to fix from them...

Thumbs up Nice Post

This is a nice post with good pictures. I just did the same job on my 2011 IS250, but instead of replacing the rotors I took them to the nearest auto parts store and had them turned for $15/each. Vibration is now gone and I also replaced the pads while I was at it. Saved me about $200 for new rotors when they weren't really necessary just yet.

Great post! I have replaced the brakes and rotors on my GX470 twice. Its a simple DIY but the tires are heavy!

Both times I could not loosen the caliper bolts on the front. Rear was easy. So first time I had to take it to an indy for the front. This time I simply replaced the pads and kept the old rotors on. No vibrations and I have the new rotors in the basement and will replace in 2 years with new pads.

So ... what's the secrete for the front caliper bolts? I am thinking to loosen them before I jack the car up. the GX has enough ground clearance for this. Maybe I need a big breaker bar for leverage.

Thanks for the post. My GX has the wobble. If my senses are correct, the vibration is originating from the front passenger rotor. Replacement inbound! Will follow this guide and report back when time is due.

This is a great write up. The key step that helped me was the suggestion to turn the wheels. Doing this allowed extra space so that I could easily use my long breaker bar on those stubborn caliper bolts. It also allowed me to stand up to allow me to put more power behind it.

The secret is the last shop that did them tightened them to much. Use an rattle gun or a breaker bar/long wrench and hit it with a dead blow and they usually loosen up. You could also try hitting the bolts (with a brass hammer, don't want to deform them) while someone else is trying to loosen them. That works like a poor man's impact
