Michelins do last. However treadwer is not somethingyou can compare manufacturer vs. manufacturer, but you can compare Michelin vs. Michelin. Apparently there is no universal treadweare rating standard.

As the person who started this thread I want to thank everyone for contributing. I decided to go with the Michelin LTX M/S 2 from what I researched and the information that was contributed. I thought it was a good choice as I do limited off road and much highway ans a few sources suggested that mileage could improve. My Lexus was purchases used, but I expect that the cross terrains were original equipment and therefore lasted 90k miles, which was suggested in the thread. So, even if they cost more they may be cheaper in the long run. But as noted by "jrbyrn" in the thread gift cards from Michelin were available. I got the tires from Sears and they were on sale at $213 per tire. I got an additional 5% off by using my Sears card. So, each tire ended up costing about $183 so it was a deal. I don't feel like they even cost anymore than the other brands I was considering.

I just picked up a set of Primewell PA100's.... My wife hinted she would be game to take the GX for a little off roading so I wanted a set of tires that would be capable.. I found a local distributor who gave me a price that I couldn't pass up... Other than being louder than the Dunlops, I like them so far... stay tuned
