Default Nav issue

Hello all,

I have a 2008 Gx470 that I purchased at an off-lease toyota auction. The auction always removes the nav discs and shift ***** and mails them to the dealer.

I recieved a U31 disc in the mail and went to install it.

The screen keeps saying "A program cannot be read" and then some japanese below it. Does anyone have any insight on this? The truck is an 08 with 53k miles on it.

The disc is a black denso U31 disc. # is 86271-53021. Does anyone know what the correct #'s are?

Here is the Disk Details and Part No. If ai'nt this, dont upload to you Nav ECU unit, The location is below the CO-Driver Seat . Wrong DVD will corrupt the database. Here are the instructions also Hope this helps.

Is / was the U31 correct for the truck in 08? I'm guessing U36 is the latest update. I keep reading about "hybrid" discs. Just wondering what the easiest solution for me is. I don't know if the DVD drive is bad or not. I removed this disc from a working 2007 GX470 , and yet it won't work on my 08. Any easy way to test the drive?

if you take the disc out of a 07 gx, it should work on the 08 no problem. that only leads me to believe the drive / ecu problem

Trying getting the Fault codes, and we can take it from there. You never know, maybe ECU problem, maybe not.

How do I get the fault codes? Does the nav have a diagnostic mode? I have the U31 disc and it just tries to read it and I get the screen with the "program cannot be read" then japanese below that. Tried unplugging nav drive to reset to no avail.

I borrowed a U32 disc from an 07 RX350 and it loaded right up no problem. I guess it already had U32 update in the ECU so it would not accept u31 anymore. So I guess my lesson learned is if the car has ever been updated then the old disc will not work. Ironically the Lexus parts guy here said the p/n for the U31disc was correct for the car. Go figure.
