I have the Sports package and KDSS too. When I was shopping for my GX the salesman at the Lexus dealer I was at, had never heard of it and didn't know what it was.
Neither did the private owner I ended up buying from. I specifically was looking for the Sports/KDSS package.
From my understanding and research, there was only roughly 10% of all GX's sold that had it.
You could get the sports package w/out KDSS.
If you don't have KDSS, the light on the dash will not light up when the ignition is turned on.
As for the black birdseye wood, I have been converted and like it much better that any othe the light colored wood grains anymore. Even the ones I have in my other car. I think it is much sportier looking.
I was at a private auto broker's lot yesterday and he probably sells 20 GX's a year. I had considered purchasing from him at one time but was seeking better prices and the KDSS/Sports package.
I was telling him about the one I had bought and he said he had never seen one at any of the auctions so he came and looked at mine. Her really liked it.

Sports Package from what I know:
Black Birds Eye wood, polished aluminum around the Nav
Blackout reflectors/trim around the fogs, headlight, and rear back up lights.
A luggage rack that is all polished silver, not just the rails between the towers which I think is chrome from 2008 on??
Chrome exhaust tip.
I think the wheels may have a black chrome effect on them too?? dunno??

They always pop up. I was looking for a blue, sport model a couple months ago, and one was for sale in Michigan, but I didn't want to deal with car that potentially had rust issues. There is an 07, silver model in CA right now with the sport package. I have found a couple on Facebook marketplace. Once you know what to look for, you don't even really need to look through all the pictures. Sport models have silver roof racks from front to back. Non-sport models will have the end caps the same color of the car. What I would rather do at this point is find a stock model without KDSS or nav, then find a totalled sport model and swap all the interior over.
