DIY - Heated Seats Bulb Replacement
I did some research on this forum and saw that many people were recommending taking apart the center console to access the switch.. well, I simply used two of my fingers and pried up from the top of the switch until it came loose..
http://home.comcast.net/~tightlinez/lexus/1.JPG Pull out and push in the white clip from the harness to remove (Push in at the red arrow) http://home.comcast.net/~tightlinez/lexus/2.JPG http://home.comcast.net/~tightlinez/lexus/3.JPG Get a small flat head and pry the cover clip from the TOP of the switch. It's very important you pry from the top cover clip because if you do the bottom side the cover will not come off easily... possibly breaking the tab. http://home.comcast.net/~tightlinez/lexus/4.JPG http://home.comcast.net/~tightlinez/lexus/5.JPG Now you're able to access the bulb http://home.comcast.net/~tightlinez/lexus/6.JPG The bulb was purchased from Sewell for $4.97 plus shipping. Part number is: 90010-01061 http://home.comcast.net/~tightlinez/lexus/7.JPG Remove the bulb assy by using a flat head and 1/4 turn counter clockwise then pop out the bulb. Now you can install the new bulb 1/4 turn clockwise to lock it in. Now you can snap the cover back on. http://home.comcast.net/~tightlinez/lexus/8.JPG http://home.comcast.net/~tightlinez/lexus/9.JPG I made a harness hook out of a large paper clip. http://home.comcast.net/~tightlinez/lexus/10.JPG http://home.comcast.net/~tightlinez/lexus/11.JPG http://home.comcast.net/~tightlinez/lexus/12.JPG Snap the harness back into place http://home.comcast.net/~tightlinez/lexus/13.JPG http://home.comcast.net/~tightlinez/lexus/14.JPG DONE! http://home.comcast.net/~tightlinez/lexus/15.JPG Hope this helps! |
What a great write up - thanks for sharing it!

I replaced my Tundra homelink buttons that were identical to those bulbs. I soldered in 5mm LEDs. I wasnt paying $5+ dollar for those tiny bulbs! :)
Nice write-up, pictures are worth 1000 words and this post will definitely help out when the time comes to replace them. If mine ever go out, I'll do a LED write up. |
Excellent write and pictures! Thank you for posting.

1) if that is same size used in radio control console (for example) 2) Is that green a cap type? like can it be removed or is it just a green light. |

Good step by step pictures and instructions. Best DYI in a while. You may want to change the name to
Heated Seats Switch, bulb replacement. Might be easier to search in the future. |
Great DIY, thanks.

Tight,
2 words- Pure Genius!!! This afternooon I spent about 2 hours trying to find out how to pry out the middle console. Once I finally got the 2 side trims off and remove the square wood piece where the gear shift is installed, I sitll couldn't get to the heating know. I mean I could almost see underneath the knob exposed, but there was more trims that need to be removed. Eventually I had stop because my wife wanted me to take here somewhere. To my surprise you post this here!!!!! Thanks I've been putting off doing this for about a year now. Much appreciated. One question- how did you know it would come off that way ? Fellas, when you prying out your trim pieces, please don't use screw driver. It will scratch and damage you trims. I bought a panel trim model removal set by Actron on amazon. let me know if you want me to post a pic of it. They are nice and sturdy to use. thanks rbx10 |
Thanks a ton! One of my heated seat light went out and I've been contemplating how to fix it and here goes your post. Much appreciated!

Very nice. Thank you!

Big thank you again to the OP - took me about 3 minutes.
To pry the piece out, I ended up using some electrical tape around my fingers with the sticky side out to give me a better grip. As I pulled it up, there was a lot of tension underneath, and I ended up popping out the diff switch as well (on accident). Guess the two sets of wires were pushed in tightly. It just popped right back in when I was done. |
Looks like a good project to consider while I have my car apart this weekend! Love this forum!!!!

Conveniently, I also have my wifes GX right now as she stayed on the other side of the state with my Tundra, so while I have the free time (no wife, kid, or dogs) and her GX I should do it now. |
