Default no more interior squeaks...

Since buying my 2004 I have been plagued by interior squeaks. Usually most noticable when going over bumps or uneven terrain but it also squaked when cornering and other quick manuvers.

I spent the day yesterday greasing every seat and door hinge, latch and tiedown... must have taken over a hour to cover all 6 seats and 5 doors. However, I've been driving the past two days squeak free ... it's been quite a revelation!

I have an '04 as well and it's frustrating to drive a luxury vehicle that squeaks and generally makes noise.

I've usually attributed this to an accumulation of dirt and grime over years of use.

Recently took care of most of the interior noises by cleaning and conditioning the leather (Lexol) as there's quite a bit of seating to rub together in the rear, especially with the 3rd row.

What I have left is the wood trim around the radio - when it gets a little nicer I'll pull the center console and radio to give it a thorough cleaning as the radio trim makes noise going over bumps.

what are you gonna use on the trim around the radio?

What I typically do is remove the trim, give it a good cleaning as well as the vinyl it rests against (Lexol Vinyl or equiv) and ensure that none of the original felt has shifted or deteriorated. The factory usually installs thin strips of felt padding on trim to prevent noise from rubbing.

It might be better to have someone else drive the car, while you set in the front passenger and back seats, to identify where it is acutally squeaking/ rattling.

I know everytime I clean my leather, anything I set on the seats, like my briefcase squeaks. I usually keep a matching towel in the drivers door, to set on the seat under my briefcase. After a day or two, I can stop putting the towel down. Don't have any other sqeaking. Good Luck

I also have some squeaking that seems to be coming from the rear hatch/toolbox area, I just attribute it to the tools moving around in their case. I did not consider that it may be the door hinges guides or clasps, will have to look at those as possible suspects.

I am almost positive my squeaks are coming from the passenger seat hinge mechanism, mostly likely the locking latches.

well i am only at 51k miles right now on my 04 gx470 so i shouldn't be having any squeaks yet and i don't...
but in general form my experience is squeaks are hard as hell to eliminate... my g35 coupe has tons of squeaks and literally took me a whole year to pin down where they were all coming from to eliminate them... now the door rattles and i am gonna leave it alone... had a mercedes clk430 that started sqeaking at 55k miles and i never ever could fix them...

comes with the miles i guess...

this truck is suprisingly well built, compared to many smaller cars such as my g35 coupe the additional weight and parts made me wary of creaking but so far at 51k miles i hear no such noises... my g35 started creaking and rattling at 21k miles... the whole infiniti g35 forum are filled with threads of these noises and people are lucky to find solutions while most just complain about them as they seem difficult to pin down... same with my mercedes clk430 that i sold 2 years ago, so many noises it drove me crazy...

zolt3c, it sounds crazy but I eliminated what I thought was an interior squeak by adjusting the hood "bumpers". If you press down on your hood where the latch is located and here a squeak, it's the bumpers. I sat in my truck while my son pushed down on the hood and we were able to duplicate the annoying squeak that I swore was coming from the dash.

Luckily I don't have any squeaks or rattle issues, heck I couldn't even tell when the engine is running.

No hood bumpers are the 2 black rubber pieces that stops the hood from slamming on metal. You can adjust those by screwing them clockwise or counter-clockwise. Never messed with them on the GX but have on previous vehicles.
