What did you do to your GX TODAY?

I had a chain like rattle going over bumps. I adjusted the parking brake by taking the rotors off and turning the adjuster. The rattle continued. I took the console apart and the relay lever adjustment nut was loose. I tightened up the nut and now the brake clicks 6 times and holds the truck even on an incline. The left and right cables were loose , letting the shoes loosen up when the brake wasn’t pulled. Now the rattle is gone

Pole Position
Replaced the passenger side mirror mechanism. Found a genuine Toyota part on eBay for $111 and swapped it out, using this video as a guide:
Most difficult part was getting the glass clipped back in to the upper mount. Get it lined up and lift upwards firmly until they snap in place. But reconnecting the four-pin connector ran a close second on the difficulty scale. Using two hands helped - one over the top to guide, and your other hand to push.
To make the job easier - fold the mirror forward to give you more room to work. When plugging in the black & grey two-pin connectors, make sure you squeeze them firmly to ensure a tight fit to the mechanism.
Afterwards - it took several up/down left/right full-extension operations to get it going smoothly. After setting your mirror position, don't forget to re-memorize your settings via the driver's L1/L2 buttons.

I ordered the paint online, bought about everything else from local auto stores.
After a good day to cure, I wet sanded and then polished. Started with 800grit ( maybe a little too aggressive ) then jumped to 1000, 1500, 2000. After the 2000grit, I used cutting compound for removing 2-4K sandpaper, then a finishing glaze. I used a DA polisher, but could have used my hands on such a small piece. I”m no painter or body guy, so reasearching all of this and coming up with your own system is a great idea. I burned thru the clear and paint on the left edge while wet sanding, so yeah do not do what I did. Lol. I want to add that I used a Dremel with a sanding wheel to grind down the plastic that holds the emblems in the center caps. Looks like they melt the plastic pins from the emblem to hold them into the center caps. I used a acrylic glue to reinstall them.
All in all, I’m very happy with the results.
This is what it took to paint the chrome covered plastic on my GX. I had the 600 grit for sanding in between base coats. Did not need to do this. The 400grit is for scuffing the surface to get a good bond. I simply read the instructions on each can and did that.

Purchased it!!
Good evening CL
I purchased my GX after months of lurking, oops I mean learning from the wealth of information this and other gx sites have given me. I will say I was not disappointed in waiting and searching for the perfect gx.
I found a 2006 w/90k well taken care of, classy upgrades, see signature
looking forward to do more to the truck and asking and contributing as much as I can

To Lftdgx06,
Great looking GX!
If I may make one suggestion. I have noticed your steering wheel is very shiny - likely from years of oils from the happy driver's hands. I have used leather cleaner and then conditioner on the steering wheel and it is amazing what a clean leather looks and feels like! Give it a try if you have a moment, and then do your seats too - they will last longer.
Best regards!
