Default HID replacement headlights or stock bulb replacement

Hi Everyone

I used to have a GS400 with HID's and do I miss them! With longer nightime hours coming up I would like to replace my stock 2006 GX470 non HID headlight bulbs with something brighter or purchase an aftermarket HID kit. My 1st preference would be the bulbs as I don't know how difficult it is installing a kit?

Thanking you in advance!

ddmtuning.com makes a plug and play kit for a whopping $35 lol, cheaper than buying a good set of halogen bulbs. I have them in both my fogs and low-beams and they look fantastic.

Thanks mr2fast

How come you didn't do your high beams and did you go with 35 or 55W & what bulb color? Were you worried about heat on your fogs and did you use dual in dual out HID harness? After answering you can step down from the bench! lol

np lol,
I didn't do the high beams because the light output between the two (hid low's and halogen high's) is VERY good. I used the 55 watt setup for the low beams and the 35 watt setup for the fog lights. The fogs work just fine without a relay harness but i would recommend one for the low beams. Not concerned with the heat on the fogs as they're lower wattage than the factory bulbs, but you will have to modify the housings to get the ballast pigtail through.

edit:
I think the heat range I'm using is 4500k, go here for pics:

I use Ebay for cheap 5000k hyper white halogens H11 bulbs. Nice white light and for $7.00 shipped it does the trick. I have a question though, They come in 55watt and 100 watt bulbs. I went with 55watt with fear of heating the wires. I did have one bulb burn out in 3 months- Could it be because the 55watts wasn't enough or was it just a fluke?
