2004 GX470 Window Issue
Hello,
I would like to seek some advice from all the experts in this forum.
I recently disconnected the battery in order to replace one of the front light bulbs. After re-connecting the battery, I started to experience some issues with the automatic windows. The symptoms vary from not being able to open or close other windows from the driver's seat to not automatically open or close the windows as it was supposed to.
I am wondering if there is any issue regarding the programing such that the automatic functions programed was erased when the battery was disconnected. Or, could there be any physical damage to the controller?
If you can shed some light on this issue, it's going to be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

If the battery is disconnected or run down
The power windows may not operate automatically and the jam protection function will not function correctly after you reconnect, replace or recharge the battery. At this time, the indicator lights of the switches will flash. In any of these cases, you should normalize the power windows.
To normalize the power windows:
1. Push down the power window switches of each door and
lower the windows halfway.
2.2. Pull up the switches until the windows close and hold the
switches for a second.
Make sure that the windows open and close automatically.
Also further is the clock and the Radio stations.
Hope this helps

Have 2008 GX470 with new battery installed by Lexus dealer just two weeks ago.
Yesterday tried to operate power windows for all doors and only driver door worked.
Set up an appointment with dealer to reslolve but quickly found this post and began "normalizing" all windows as described. Worked like magic and restored the driver's switches functionallity. Surprised the dealer had not done this when they replaced battery.
Thanks to everyone contributing to these posts!

2004 Lexus Normalization doesn't work
I have a 2004 Lexus GX 470 for which I just replaced the battery. Only the drivers window works. The others don't work from the driver's console or from the door window switches on the doors. How do I normalize the windows if the passenger, and rear doors windows don't work? Is there a step I'm missing? The normalization procedure assumes the windows work from the door switch.
Thanks.

Go to each window individually and lower the window all the way and then all the way back up.
Should be good to go!

- the windows dont work using the each door's switch. I can not lower them to normalize them. Looks like I may need to see a dealer. Thanks. Fmc

Ok - my mistake. The power windows may not work from the drivers console but the windows lockout does. Hit the unlock from the drivers console and normalized the wind I windows. Thanks.
