coming up from underneath works on both sides. you can come at it from the top, though i haven't figured out a way to wrench my wrist backwards with enough torque to twist to unlock it. i make this repair a lot for some reason, typically if i bounce down a back road too fast. these directions are spot-on.

It took me 10 mins ( double the time recommended because of my engineering degree ;-) 2007 GX470 also has the same assembly and mechanism for turn signal.
Thanks Jeff! You actually saved me a trip to the lexus dealership plus a $70 ( yeah! thats what they are charging now for changing the bulb!) You should consider authoring an illustrated Lexus owners hand book for dummies! I will be the first one to buy.

This is the driver's side bulb or passenger side?

Just did my driver's side. Took about 5 minutes (I'm not an engineer ).

Thanks to the OP for taking the time to post this.

If I'm reading the warning on these lights, they won't work with our vehicle since this bulb would be the same as the DRL - can someone else verify that I am reading that correctly?

I saw that same warning, might have to just email the company. Bigger issue is, am I seeing it right that there isnt an 1156 switchback?

Default Works on the 2008 GX470 too

It took longer to go to the auto supply to buy the bulb than it did to install it.

Thanks for the photos, that's a big help.

$5.49 at AutoZone for the same package of two bulbs shown. Still better than $75 at the dealership (that would be about a $70 'free' car wash!) lol

This is a good story...

Noticed no right front turn signal on the way home today. The "Lexus brick" (owners manual) was no help at all. Searched the site & found this thread. Laid down, reached up & removed the bulb according to the photos. Looked at the bulb carefully and it looked fine--you can usually see a blown filament. On a whim, I just replaced the bulb & voila! It works fine now. Had to be the simplest & quickest fix ever.

However, some spare bulbs are definitely in order.

Two pack of bulbs @ Autozone : $4.99.

Yes, this thread was very helpful.

It was a little intimidating looking up laying under the car, but didn't take more than 5 minutes.
