Default Do they only replace the rubber when they replace the wiper blades?

While driving home I noticed that my windshield wiper blades were suppose to be replaced with this service and it states that this was done on my paper work yet when I look, I see my windshield wiper blades still say Bosch which is what I put on my truck 6 months ago.

When they replace your blades do they only replace the rubber? I know that they only do this on the back, but on the front too? If that is so then they look pretty old also.

Why is nothing easy?

I dunno, everytime I've replaced wiper blades on my cars, you remove the entire assembly off the arm, and replace the assembly.. not just the rubber.

Sounds like they didn't do it.

you can just replace the inserts. don't have to replace the whole arm assembly unless its broken.

My dealer replaces the whole wiper blades on my ES300 once a year (I usually bring my car in for service every six months).

When I replace my wiper blades I too replace the whole assembly not just the rubber. I also noticed that in my maintenance log which you entered into the computer was never done. At the other dealerships or even my local garage this was always updated so that I would know when I was due for another oil change and tire rotation. Now grant you I never waited the 5000 miles or 6 months but it was nice to know just in case, that this was entered. I guess I will have to enter this also. Oil change, tire rotation, brakes, wiper blades, trans, etc. Nothing was entered. I ran out to get milk last night and my light came on telling me it was time for an oil change because the guy who does the work on my truck sets this for 3 months or 3000 miles. Why do I ever expect work to be done right. Instead I get a sticker on my windshield telling me when to come back for an oil change.

Maybe it's time to start doing your own maintenance?

I think you just may be right. I was just saying this to my hubby. I guess now I'm going to get a crash course in truck maintenance.

THey probably didnt' replace them because they only stock the Toyota/Lexus rubber wiper inserts - which cost about $5 each. If they were to replace them, they'd need to install new Toyota/Lexus "arms" which would cost about $50 each. Do you still have the original arms from 6 months ago? Otherwise, you'll have to go aftermarket wipers forever, unless you buy the Lexus arms again so you can use their inserts.

I've never replaced the arm in any of my Lexus. I purchase the insert, it lasts about a year.

The wiper inserts were probably never replace since the dealer do not stock Bosch products.

I can't agree more, maintenance on a Toyota product is simple! They dont ask for much in the recommended maintenance. Anything you cant handle yourself, take to a trusted independent garage.

Just called the local toyota dealer and they said they stock inserts that would work for the GX.

But... I then remembered the rear wiper and figured the Toyota dealer would have no clue, so I hopped on http://www.sewellpartsonline.com/ and ordered up 3-sets of L/R/R wiper inserts for the GX. Should last me for a while.
