I had a Kenwood double din unit professionally installed in my 2003 Lexus GX470. They made a custom bezel that looks pretty good. I am getting some accelerator "whine", and know the fix is to turn down the gain on the amp under the driver seat. The installers will do this for me, if I can just get the car to them. I would love to just do this myself, but need to ask the stupid question... Where is the gain on the unit? Looking under the seat it isn't easy for me to tell.
Thanks for advice in advance.

I found this on Ebay, do you think it can pair with my 04 NON ML NON NAVI GX470?>

Also is the "volume problem" solved by replacing a aftermarket amp?

Volume problem is solved by adjusting the gain on the tyto.

Some pics of install
I finished this project today.
Items used:
1. $50 Dash insert off ebay.
2. TYTO-01 Wiring Harness- this harness requires the head unit to have front and rear preamp RCA outputs
3. DDX418 Kenwood Unit- fit perfectly into the stock brackets and has the required RCA preamp outputs. Bluetooth talk feature of this unit is garbage...even with the installed mic. Grounded the parking brake wire to bypass the DVD restrictions. No need to install a relay.
4. Axxcess ASWC steering wheel control unit
5. Metra 70-8114 Toyota harness- used this because it allows use of the ASWC with ZERO cutting into factory wires.
I had to MANUALLY program the ASWC.. the unit thought the kenwood was a JVC (which it probably is since they merged in 2008) took me about 4 hours to figure that out. By far the hardest part of the build. What is extremely difficult is that the ASWC unit uses flashing LEDs to identify various things ie... 7 short flashes then a two second pause....one long.... means the unit has detected the radio..... try watching the leds while reading the instructions!!! it gets extremely confusing to program.... over 20 steps.
Overall VERY happy with the black bezel off ebay. It matches the vents. I'm too cheap to have it painted. I have to say that I love it over the stock unit... makes my 2003 feel like a 2012.

well it's been a great weekend, after finishing putting cats back on my g35 coupe i decided to install the double din 7 dvd/gps combo in my gx470 - everything went smoothly except when i put the dvd in in the dash and testing it... the dvd is motorized so when time came for it to drop down the face came in contact with the bezel din... so i had to pull out the old dremel and started cutting away... what should only take 2 hours long ended up being a 5 hours long ordeal, but when i fitted everything back it the face can now drop down without contact...
so lesson for anyone wanting to use the din with a motorized drop down face dvd double din player - better have dremel nearby... gl
