very true BLKGX
i was concerned about that too
to me it's really tough choosing wheels

because you really can't fully know what the vehicle
will look like until the wheels are ordered and installed
and thats too late to change your mind

luckily with mine i bought them from a guy
on this message board that had them on
his GX so I knew exactly what the look
would be.

it's a personal perference on the look one wants
i agree you have to be careful with a GX
not to go too "hood"....i don't think 20's are too much
plus i think it's pretty cool to have after market wheels
because so few GX's have aftermarket wheels
it makes it pretty unique

You guys are going to get me in trouble! I haven't had rims on a truck since my first couple of Grand Cherokees {'93 and '99** (Sweet trucks for their time) and now I am all sorts of tempted to go pick up four Pirelli Scorpions (Love that tire) and start looking at rims.

As for looking at rims, feel free to post a request with the color of your truck and a picture of rims in the photoshop section of the forum and request someone to photoshop the rims onto the truck. I have seen a few guys do it and they do a great job. It also helps you feel more comfortable with your decision if you can see your rims on your truck!

i'd go for some 33's. 33" tires that is, with some 16" black steel wheels. get that tough off road look instead. that's something you don't see much on a GX, but it makes more sense since the GX is actually very very good off road.

I guess the reason I have held off on the modification is that I love the ride and don't want to jeopardize it.

Jason, one of the nice things about the 18" T4R Ltd wheels is there is no degradation in ride quality if you go with 265/65-18 tires because the sidewall height is identical to the stock 265/65-17 tires. The ride is just as plush as stock. However, there is a slight degradation in handling I assume because the ground clearance goes up by half an inch due to the 1" bigger wheels.

Is a Gator really helping out a 'Cane? When does football season start!?! AGHHH - @ least 'Canes baseball has me fired up - big series with the Noles this weekend.

I think I am going to find out about the front spoiler first and then "think" about RIMS.... but, damn, you guys have me thinking about it now! With so many shops to buy wheels in south Florida, I am going to be stopping at places all the time...!

Great Section! I've never seen anything like that Silver L-Tuned GX posted earlier. Anyone know any more info about that car?

The L-Tuned is a photoshop creation! It came out in 2002/2003.

Weak! I was super stoked on that. Oh well...

Just ordered Nitto 420S 305/40/r22's today for my GX. They will be replacing my 265/45/r22 Toyo's. I'll post pix soon so everyone can see the contrast between the two.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! C! A! N! E! S! CANES!!!!

CANES!!!!! Heading to Jacksonville this weekend for the Tournament - LETS GO CANES! I wish LX-MODE did not discontinue the front lip. That thing is sweet! Can't wait to see your wheels - I am trying to figure out some new shoes for my ride - just not sold on anything yet.

It's well worth the wait to find something that you don't just like - but LOVE. It really is a bummer that they discontinued the Front lip (good point, JasonCANES). I think the Market is just too small for anyone to really put the $ in to developing products for the GX. I don't blame them, given that 98% of GX Drivers in my hometown (Newport Beach) have no mods to their vehicle. This is in a town where the majority of luxury vehicles out there have mod's - particularly SUV's.

I'd also put a bit of thought in to picking a tire that you like. I am moving away from the Toyo's as I grew tired of seeing every other car out there with my same tires. There's even a brand out there now that has a knock-off version of the Toyo's. The worst part is that they are not multi-directional, so they wear poorly over the life of the tire.

Regarding ride quality: I am very pleased with the ride of my GX on 22's with a 265/45 profile. It will be interesting to see the difference once I move from 265/45 to 305/40. What I will say is that when I switched from Stock to 22 inch rims, I felt like the car drove much BETTER. I'm not saying that it was more comfortable, but rather that it handled better and felt less top heavy. Perhaps the KDSS on my GX works well with the rims? I'm not sure of why it is, but I can assuredly say that it is much better now. I will always take a performance gain like that to sacrifice a barely noticeable amount of ride quality.

At the end of the day, I am extremely pleased that the rims on my GX are not only beautiful, but they set it apart from the rest. Usually that's not a big deal, but when you are one of the only ones in town with that mod, it makes a big difference.
