Default GX470 Bug/Hood Deflector

Hey guys,

I am trying to find pictures of a bug/hood deflector installed on a GX470. I currently already have a full clear bra installed on the car, but i am still getting some rock chips higher up on the hood as well as on the roof. My 1999 4Runner has 100k+ miles and has less rockchips because it has had a bug deflector on it its whole life. Post up pictures if you have one or if you know of a vedor who sells them, I have looked without success.

Thanks!

I've been looking for a nice looking quality deflector as well. Thanks in advance.

I've explored this issue before as on all my previous SUVs I've installed a bug shield and it did help a lot. The only one I've ever seen for the GX (other than black bras) is pretty ugly IMNSHO on any color but black. Due to the hood design and how bug deflectors are designed to install w/out drilling, etc., on the GX it comes all the way down on either side of the grille to the front bumper. Here's the best picture I could find of it.....

I have no idea where to buy one. Sorry

Why not get one like this, and then have it painted to match your paint... Any body shop ought to be able to paint it up for abotu $100, I would guess...

Oh, wow, that is actually the first time I have ever seen one on a GX. Do you know where that picture came from and if any more are available?

I actually have that link saved in my favorites. The only problem is that it is a generic picture and not specific to the GX. I am not too worried about its looks as it is always removeable whereas rockchips are not.

Keep the info coming guys, thanks!

I haven't seen anything like that. How extensive is the coverage on your clear bra? Mine goes past the top of the headlights by a few inches. Unless you can get the entire hood wrapped, you're bound to get some chips.

Have you checked the below links? What color is your vehicle? I may be interested in getting one depending on how they look on my black GX470. These companies may have photos that we can check out before purchasing.

I was not able to get a picture for the GX470. One of the sites had a picture of a black RX.

How far up does your clear bra extend? Mine is up there pretty good an no chips, I do know a few brands of clear bra are a bit short and can allow chips. I also cleared the roof before the sunroof as that is a chip prone are as well.

It goes it up pretty high. Maybe a 1/3 of the way up? But it seems like my 99 4runner with its bug deflector has neraly none on its hood even after 100k miles.

If anyone know of any picture or manufacturers who have pictures, post away!

I did not.

I ended up getting a 3M clearbra installed which I have been more than happy with.
