2008 gx470 block heater
does anyone know if a block heater is easy to install??

I thought it was just a blanket that goes over the engine. Do you really need one? Well guess it can get pretty cold in ND.

Hello and welcome,
Depends on what you are trying to do. Few types of block heaters. 1) For coolant. Normally installed in a freeze plug area in the cylinder head keeping the block warm. This would be a bit more complicated. 2) For the oil. Generally a heated dipstick, or a magnet that attaches to the oil pan. For very cold climates a block heater is recommended but I also know of a few people that run synthetic oil and have no issues with thickening oil. Depends on how cold it is where your at. |
