GatorGX, what part of the state are you in? I'm gonna take my GX to Flying Windows in Orlando some time in the next week to get my two front windows done. They've been around forever and they've done several of my cars over the years, I've always been very pleased with the results. I'll let you know how it goes and what tint they used. Here's a pic of the job they did on my old LX, they matched it up very well:

I'm in South Florida. Nice pic, I actually came across that pic in my CL searches for tint jobs in the RX and LX forums. Great, please do post the brand/type/percent of the film after he does it. That would help a lot. Thanks.

Just got the 20% taken off in the front this morning and replaced with 5% in the front so that they would match better.

I keep seeing GX's on the road with the front tint just about perfectly matched to the rears. So far have not been in a situation where I could ask the owner the brand/type/percent of film.
I'd like help with the brand and color etc. as well to get the front to look good. Took my gx to a prof. glass tinting place yesterday. They said they'd match the front to the second row. Didn't even look close - afterwards they said that since the front and second row have different color tinting (green vs. blue) you'd never be able to get them to match. Funny how before doing the install they said that they'd be able to get a match so close you wouldn't be able to notice a difference. Needless to say I had them take off the tinting they'd done. Anyone with a good looking front tint - info on the tint would be very helpful!

ok I was asked for my input here.

I have 20% rear (over the Privacy glass makes for a total blackout) and 35% front (legal in Arizona).
Use the metalized film as the dyed stuff turns a crappy purple.
Tint isnt an option in AZ. Its a must.

hope that answers the Pm'ers questions

Thanks Reboot. If you can get the Manufacturer and specific type of film used (i.e. Johnson Vision Plus; 3M Color-Stable) to go with the percent, that would be helpful.

Thanks pump142 - yeah, I've learned that manufacturer and specific type from that manufacturer and percent are all needed to make sure we get what others recommend.

daleer - I hear ya, thus this thread. I see GX's all the time that look perfect, I just can never catch anyone to ask them... nor would they probably know the answer. I also see many that match on percent but are off terribly on color (often those are the metallic tints so be careful when considering those in my opinion).

BTW, just yesterday my wife asked about doing the rear windows too since the kids are saying it is too sunny and hot, so I may be tinting all around but not sure yet.

Perfect, thanks for checking pump. Do you think the 32% front would have matched the factory privacy glass rears pretty decently had you just done the fronts?

Do you happen to know which Madico tint?

Advanced Ceramic, Onyx, Charcool, True Gray or Charcoal.

can I ask why you would tint front and not rears?
Is your goal the looks or heat rejection / interior protection?

Thanks pump! So that's the actual films they used - not the percentages it came out to after application right? Cause I know that the rears are already tinited so if you throw 22% on there - it's going to come out to less than 22%. Just want to make sure I understand correctly. So you had the 22% film applied to the second AND third row windows - and the 32% applied to the front row correct?
Thanks again.
