Prado LED looking tail lights
Hello everyone,
Picked up a used Ash Blue 2004 GX a few days ago. Love the car!! Got the clunk problem, hopefully can get that fixed by the dealer with no problems (car still under warranty).
Was wondering if anyone has ordered or installed these lights below off ebay?

They look nice off the ad, however wondering how they really look. I am worried they have a cheap aftermarket look...not like the OEM ones off Japanparts.
Thanks!
Henry

Hi Henry,
I purchased the OEM lights from japanparts. The OEM Prado lights have a darker red/burgandy color on the exterior. Otherwise, those you found on ebay look pretty similar.
If I were buying today, I would probably opt for the LED's. I think as long as you get the smoke lenses, they will look okay.
Antonio.

I have been looking at these for a while. I plan on buying these LED's soon, but was hoping that someone on the forum would buy them and give some good install pics and reviews. So far it has not happened...do you want to be the chosen one?

I installed the light assembly 2 weeks ago and so far, I love it. I have the smoke ones on a Ash Blue Metallic car. Since it's made for the Japanese market, rewiring on the right assembly is necessary to have the bulbs function properly. With some minor rewiring, I was able to utilize the lower light as additional brake light as well as replacing the bulbs with red LED bulbs. One advantage of this particular assembly is that rewiring can be done on the assembly itself without messing with the factory harness. I'll try to post a picture this weekend!

dc67soul please post pictures when you get a chance!! I have been looking at these for a while, but have been concerned with the quality and look of the units. I also have ash blue GX and was looking at getting the smoked ones. Also, I thought no rewiring was needed, just plug and play as listed in the ad?? Are they true LED's??

Regarding the wiring, the units were made for the Japanese Prado with different wiring due to additional backup lights that are absent in the GX (ours are above the license plate. Hence, some minor wiring is required, though not difficult. Unlike the Japanese OEM Prodo light, the major benefit of this unit is that the rewiring can be done on the light assembly itself without cutting the factory wire harness. Highly recommended!!!
I utilized the extra light as additional brake light by replacing the bulbs with red LED bulbs.

Welcome to Cl Henry.
In my opinion I think those LEDs actualy might look good on a GX but
remember its YOUR car and YOUR $$. You should carefully think about it and not be "too" influenced by what other people think.
Good Luck, Jacob

Tail lights from Japanparts.com
Not sure if anyone would be interested but I purchased rear clear combo lamps from Japanparts.com (http://japanparts.com/db/partslist.p...dle=2&small=20) and installed them on my 2003 blue metallic GX. I used LEDs for the brake lights, which looked great. Overall, I believe the tail lights enhanced the look of the GX.
If anyone is interested in seeing a picture I can check the gallery to see if its still there. Or I can try and attach a pict in this thread.
