I am growing tired of the look of the Factory Rims. It doesn't do this truck justice. They are decent, but this truck could look so much better as I have seen from the other members on here and their aftermarket rims.

However I am not a wheel / rim person. I would like to have 18's but I don't know of any good options.

So my easy option is going with the Lexus Optional OEM 17" (link and photo below):

Has anyone on here had these wheels installed on their GX and can provide me photos? They seem to look good.

That wheel would be nice in 20 in. though. I did see a multispoke wheel from TRD in 20 in. and it looks great. I preferred not to get the larger chrome wheels; too much of bling-bling factor.

Hey JohnAMG - you are right - 17" is still a little too small. Heck even the new 2006 4Runner Limited comes with some nice 18" rims this year (link below):

This is the wheel I would love to have, http://www.l-tunedparts.com/product/?id=988 Unfortunately it is "on hold". I got a question. How good is the OEM Dunlop tires in the snow? My previous SUV had Dunlop truck tires and it perform adequately but Lexus use a different model and I hope it has the same performance.

That's a great rim, but I am still looking in the 17-18" rim range. My GX has Michellin Cross Terrains (highly rated) and they did well in the snow last winter, but you can still slide either way in snow if you drive too fast, which I found out one time.

The factory optional rims actually looks real sharp, it is not too flashy like most other after market rims, but I must say, they are over price.

I have to agree with you on this, since everything braned with the Lexus name is going to be expensive. I wonder where is the best deal to get this? I see Lexus-Parts.com has it for $280 a wheel (no tires).

The bolt patter and hub are the same size on a lot of Toyota/Lexus models. The GX470 can take rims that will fit on a Tacoma 4x4, Tundra, Sequoia, and 4Runner. That ought to open up some options for you.

Ordering factory Lexus or Toyota wheels will cost a ton just because they are the factory replacement. You can get some very nice aftermarket wheels for the same price as the factory ones.

Keep in mind that if you stick with a simple 5-8 spoke design and get a 17" or 18" wheel they won't stand out too much. The 20"+ sizes will start to stand out no matter how "understated" the design. Another way to keep an aftermarket wheel looking more stock is pick a rim (or have one made) that doesn't have a lip on it. The aftermarket rims all seem to have huge lips. Also, if possible get a simple brushed or silver painted finish. Both of these things will allow you to get an aftermarket rim of your liking without having it stand out as being aftermarket or Bling Bling.

That is the online site for America's Tire Co. You might try one of their stores to see if they can order that rim in a 18" if you like it. IMO, it looks best in the 18" (vs the 17"). This is a good looking wheel that doesn’t look too flashy. It doesn't cost that much either in a 17" or 18" size.

I would Photoshop the Colorado Custom wheel and the Boyd Coddington wheels on the GX myself if I had Photoshop with me. Perhaps you can get somebody else to do it for you if you like.

I would photoshop those on the GX to see how they look if I had photoshop with me. I'm sure those wheels would fit the GX, and would probably be cheaper than the Lexus wheels just because they don't have an "L" on them.

The 18" size would be perfect and the graphite color of those rims would look perfect on your black GX. The only question would be, can you get a graphite color "L" cap that fits the rim. I'm guessing that the caps from the 17" graphite GX sport package wheels would color match perfect and fit that Toyota rim. If the "T" cap doesn't bother you you won't need to switch though.

AGENTWD-40 - great minds think alike. This is a good idea and I will investigate this, since if it's interchangeable, than this is a good option.

Hey batmobl, thanks for the suggestion. I already tried Tirerack too and though the selection was just OK. I am not looking for anything flashy or larger than 18" rims, so Tire rack doesn't offer a good selection for the GX470 at this time.

That would definitely be very slick to have those graphite color 18" 4Runner wheels on the GX. Something stock looking, but different enough to stand out. And the 18" size looks great. Post back when you find out.
