My 2005 fits fine in a standard size garage, so worth being able to keep it in. Now there is not much room front/back but it does fit

We have a very small garage (NYC townhouse!)...so every time we'd get a new car we always see that it's not over 189.5"...the GX is perfect for us as it is probably the largest SUV that can possibly fit into our garage...for us its the length that is the source of the problem, not the height...I even had to install air cushions to the front bumper not to damage the paint as I really need to touch the garage wall in order to fit the car in and the garage door to close...

I went to a local dealer, found a "nice guy" gave him some $ to come with me to check if the car fits (I lived too far away). Turned around and bought another GX from out of town. Berely fit!

My GX has a ROTA Roof Rack installed and it still fits fine into any parking garage and my home garage just fine as well.
It's when I had my FJ80 Landcruiser was when it didn't fit in most parking garages with the rack and huge BFGs installed.

Hi Allison,
Out of curiosity did your GX fit in the entrance with 6ft 1" clearance? Ie. did you ever try driving it through - and when you had the GX did it have the roof rack?
I'm thinking about getting an 04 GX but the entrance to my underground parking has a Mx of 6ft 2", which really is about 6ft 1" going down one of the first ramps as clearance is lower due to angle.

Went for it and bought the 04 GX470 and it fits with ample space (without roof rack) under the 6ft 2' underground parking clearance. what I was most concerned about until taking the car home for test drive, was the approach angle coming down the entry ramp.
Its way bigger than my X5 but is not a behemoth like an armada or escalade.
amazing tall view of the road ahead and u can feel its girth while driving, but the ride is silky smooth.
nimble for a big vehicle!
