Default GX Glove box dampener solution

It finally happened. The heavy thread that allows the glove box on my 2008 GX to open slowly snapped. Has anyone come up with an alternative to fixing the dreaded OEM thread that snapped with something else? The glovebox basically falls open now

I don't think it's a common issue, just replace with the same thing, it's highly unlikely to fail again in the time you own the truck.

Broken Dampener pistons / threads on any glove box for on any vehicle are definitely a common issue. The GX thread instead of a piston part was / is new to me so was looking for more of a how to do it. Could have been clearer in my post. Looking the quick way to fix a small problem. Thanks.

I found the P/N for a LX470. Not sure it fits the GX.
55557-60020

It's pretty cheap at $15-20, so might be worth a try.
Looks like very few vehicles use a damper with a cord. Most have a plastic post.

I did look, but was unable to find the dampner for the GX470 available on its own.

Broke my damper string and looking to replace it but don’t want to waste time with ordering an incorrect part.

I had a another look, this time at the Amayama site. The dampener still isn't available separately - they say "This part is not supplied as an individual part, because it is hard to assemble/disassemble due to the structure."
Next higher part assembly is the glove box frame, which they list two part numbers for:

55509-60030 - without CD changer
55509-60050 - with CD changer

Cost is about $83 plus shipping on their site.
