Smile Oil Filter base hoses

Hi all. A new observation that I made while in the process of bringing my new "old" 03 GX470 up to my maintenance tolerance levels, is that there are two hoses, approximately 1/2" (or 12-13mm) ID, that are attached to the oil Filter base (or pedestal). Each hose is a fairly short, pre-formed hose that runs from the lower driver's side engine to the oil filter base (or pedestal) and back to the engine. Don't know what function those hoses might serve, as all 4 ends are held in place by simple spring clamps. Surely that cannot be how the oil is circulated into and out of the oil filter......I hope. But whatever their purpose, they are both VERY hard after 19 years of service, and I am attempting to A) identify their intended purpose, and B) availability of these parts. The Lexus dealer that I work with stated that he has never had anyone request replacements for these two hoses. Anyone out there with some knowledge of these two hoses?? Thanks all...

That is an oil cooler sometimes called a heat exchanger, engine coolant circulates through the cooler. If the coolant hoses are anything like other Toyota and Lexus that use the same systems they last forever.

See if the hoses are still soft (not brittle). If you need them, the P/N are:

15767-50111 - Pipe, Oil Cooler
15777-50060 - Hose, Oil Cooler

Something you may consider is the figure-eight oil filter mount seal.
15692-50020 - Gasket, Oil Filter Bracket

How to change the gasket (not on a GX, but close enough..)
