Default LED Headlights

Has anyone install a LED Headlights on a GX470? I have the Xenon ones, but want to have better lighting on the road. What should I look for? I bought the BEAMTECH H11 LED Headlight Bulb, 50W 6500K 8000Lumens Extremely Brigh H8 H9 CSP Chips Conversion Kit but decided to return them before even try them because I was afraid they'll bring me electrical problems to my beloved GX . I've read there are some flickering issues when you install these new LED headlights

I’ve installed these and have no flicker. They are easily 3x brighter than halogens. The only thing to worry about really is make sure they are aligned properly. Thankfully mine were orientated properly.

I’ve also installed these without issues.

Perceptively brighter but I'm quite sure there are no drop in LED's that actually perform better than a high performance halogen from say Osram, Philips or GE. Reason being the projectors were designed for halogen. Lots of good info here

You can see the difference in Lux
H11 GE +130 vs XD Pro LED

Lux: 1086 vs 636

HID"s outperform halogen and LED in the factory projectors, LED's have their place, but it's not in the low beams of these trucks IMO.

All I know is these LEDs light up more of the street forward and laterally than the sets of halogens I tried—which included high performance Sylvanias and Philips. So for this I use my eyes and actual distant objects and not a garage door or wall as my judge. Its what works for me, so it may not work for others.

Agreed it works for me it is truly night and day difference how much better and brighter and whiter the Fahren LED lights are then the factory bulbs, so for $39.99 I will take it since it’s atleast a 100% improvement over stock!!

What mounting option did you use for the heat sinks? I’d love to see a picture. The double stick tape lasted a nano-second in this Texas summer. My setup with my low and high beams on where/how I mounted the heat sinks is red neck science... I really need a better solution. I was thinking about putting on a little L bracket with a little ring bolt but dunno how that would work with the driver’s side due to the limited space next to the battery.

I just used the zip ties and tied it around the other black ribbed wiring looms. I will have to check and see if it stayed as I only drove the truck a couple of times after I did this mod.

Mostly did the same. Though I used longer ties and tried to use the holes on the body for anchor points. LOL

I replaced my old xenon bulbs and ballasts with this very simple plug and play LED bulbs. I like the look and lumen output better and they dont flicker like my xenon bulbs.

Amazon Amazon

I also ordered new headlight assemblies because mine were in such bad shape.

Thanks for your help. The se7enine article reference was very helpful to understand this issue.
Now I'm trying to find what model of the Philips Xenon HID will fit the GX470. Back in 2012 I installed the Xenon Depot HID (item 25152 )but I'm not happy with them

The Retrofit Source has some H11 bulbs with Philips capsules that should be what you need. They will be the most reliable and at 4800K a nice white and not blue output. Pricey at $175 but that's about the going rate for any Philips HID bulb set.

Default changing HID for LED

Thanks guys for the input. I ended up ordering the Fahren 9005/HB3/H10 and H11 LED Headlight Bulbs, 60W 10000 Lumens and I'll let you know how they work after I install them in a couple weeks.

Awesome!

So far we are loving the Alla in our 470 so much I ordered them for the 460. My buddy put the Fahrens I originally had in the 470 in his 2015 F150 and they are stupid bright. Hah.
