Officially, IIRC, it was at the 10K mark... I just replaced mine (about 15K) and it was filthy... I'm wondering if Spring and Fall might not be a bad idea... may do the "Filtrete" trick if I do it that frequently...

It sounds like about every 12 months. I'm assuming you wouldn't need to change it as often if you have the air on recirculate all the time?

I just called Sewell Lexus to order the TRD Air Filter and the charcoal cabin filter, and they told me they don't recommend the charcoal filter anymore because it traps more moisture. Has anyone else heard this or can anyone confirm this statement? It seems like I should just order the regular "YZZ05" part instead of the "YZZ03".

wow!!??? that often? I just change my GX470's filter out it has been sitting in since I bought the car 3 years ago. When I took it out, it did not seem that dirty. I live 0.5 mile away from the beach, air might be cleaner here *^^*.
Also, I nornally kept the closed the air flows.

Interesting, I wonder if Lexus had complains about the trap mositure. When I replace mine, I just went with the regular filter as well, didnt notice much difference except for a bit increase in air flow. BTW, I bought the TRD air filter from there too. That TRD filter is well constructed.

The non-charcoal filter(YZZ05) is very thin and cheap looking, I use the charcoal one(YZZ03) with good results and change it every 10,000 miles. Never had any problems.

G Man and CdeFabio thank you for the replies. I do want to get the TRD, but each time I call Sewell Lexus, I have to leave a message, and I haven't received a call back yet. I prefer to go with the (YZZ03), but I would also like to get it through Sewell Lexus since I have a Lexus VISA that has some rewards on it.

When I bought my GX last September, I had a Lexus VISA and so I got a free $500 worth of rewards on my VISA to use at Lexus dealerships. I'm not real sure how to plug in all the info on the website when I order the parts, and I wanted to make sure the parts are in stock so I don't have to wait a month to install them. I have extremely bad luck when it comes to ordering things online and them taking an extended period of time to finally be delivered. I wish I could pick the TRD up locally.
