i know this has probably been discussed before, but using the search doesn't really help (too many threads on it) so here's my question. Is the 03 4Runner's chrome tip the same as the GX470's? I don't want to spend $80 for a tip, and the tip for a 4Runner is only $55. Please advice. Thanx in advance.

It's the same tip by valor, and cost $55 here as well.

Easy to install, but i felt the 'cool' impact not so fulfilling, since gx is'nt dual exhaust.

That's exactly how I feel about the single chrome exhaust tip. If the GX had dual exhaust like most luxury SUV's (MDX, if its considered luxury, the X5, ML, RR, Tourag, Cayenne, etc.) today, then the dual chrome tips would look nice. The single chrome tip as is just gives an unbalanced look from the rear. Thats no doubt why Lexus paints the standard tailpipe black, so when viewed from the rear, it blends in with the undercarriage.

ok the "cool" impact isn't great, but here's a food for thought. Every honda (well at least in my city ) all come STANDARD with Chrome Exhaust Tips. Geez, even my dad's 97 odyssey has a chrome tip, and i never knew about it until i started understanding cars ( i was like 8 or 9 years old when the odyssey was brand new). So that's what makes me motivated to get one for my GX. I'm not the kind of person that does major mods but a chrome tip and some illegal 35% front tints will work for me.

Yes, it is the same thing. I got my first one for my 4Runner on ebay for like $35. Saved about $20.

Looking at the pic of your rear bumper, it reminds me of when I first bought my GX. I hated the hitch cover in the center of bumper. Looks like a part of the female anatomy. I went to the dealer and bought a plain cover. It now looks a lot better, IMHO.

I bought some touch up paint for the GX and painted the letters and lexus symbol on an extra hitch cover that I had. I think it looks pretty cool.
