Hi guys,

For those of you who live in cold climates, have you noticed an unusual amount of rust under your GX after the winter? I just looked under mine, which has only been through 1 snowy season, and some areas (particularly the rear axle) look awful.

During winter, I washed the truck every couple of weeks, like I've always done with other cars, yet the GX looks much worse than any other car I've had (even though it's the nicest I've ever had!). The front suspension looks a bit better, though the halfshafts are also rusted. Even the factory hitch has a few little dots!

I plan to mention it to the dealer when I go back in a month or so, but figured I'd check here. Has anyone seen something like this? I'll post pictures as soon as I can.

I noticed the same thing on a used 2004 at the Lexus dealer the other day. not sure what the problem is or if we just need to clean the undercarriage more often in the winter........

 

I'd consider getting the vehicle rust-proofed either this spring or late fall before the snow flies again. I rust-proof all my vehicles & many 10 - 12 years old are still around with the body in prestine condition. I re-apply the materials (I use 2 different types.....a black tar like undercoating for under the vehicle & a yellow paste type materian for all other body panels).
