Default Oil Change

Anybody has changed their oil before 5000 miles service? I'm thinking of doing after 1000 mile service.

I change mine by myself since I'm a cheapskate and it isn't that hard anyway. I do it every 3k.

I'm a cheapskate too. I always wash/zaino my cars, change oil myself. But for this gx, I was not able to figure out where the oil filter is. I did see the bolt hiding behind the cover at the bottom though. Shawn, do you mind help me out or should I just buy a service manual from eBay.

The oil filter is under the skid plate, 4 bolts hold it on, the drain plug is under the oval that pushes out in the other part of the skid plate it an easy location but the plate is heavy

Kash
is that something your dealer offers cause I've only seen the 1000 and 5000 service offered under warranty and is their a mileage limit on it cause 2 years 24k is not much but 4 oil changes and who knows how extensive the 15k service is since their paying for it

I get no free service other than that first 5k service included.

Oil changes are not that bad once you figure it out, but it's not as easy as my Civic! Once you got the bolt off of the front skid plate, it's on the front left area of the engine roughly. Just have a bag handy, because with the position it's in, oil can potentially get everywhere.

Thanks guys, I'll give a try later. Is there any small "door” for access the filter like the one for the oil drain bolt as well or you have to take the front skid plate off?
