Default Used vehicle value

I have been tracking the value of my 2004 GX470 for several years using the Kelly Blue Book website.
Their numbers don't reflect what I could get in an actual sale and are "retail-ish" numbers. Think of their numbers as "fantasy football" but for cars.

Why have I been doing this? For a net-worth calculation and also (mostly!) curiosity.

I put in the mileage and options I have, and selected "very good" condition - as I do have some cosmetic defects, but mechanically it's been well maintained.
I always did this in the month of July and for my zip code in North Carolina.

2018: $8210
2019: $7384 Decrease: -$826
2020: $7154 Decrease: -$230
2021: $8175 Increase: $1021
2022: $7481 Decrease: -$694
2023: $6897 Decrease: -$584
2024: $6479 Decrease: -$148
2025: $5772 Decrease: -$707

2021 is obviously the interesting one - that's in the middle of the pandemic and new cars were hard to come by because the factories had closed. Never going to see that again (hopefully).

You can compare it to NADA values, I know most insurance and dealerships use NADA values vs KBB

There's also the Kelly Black book, which has auction prices. Assuming it even exists in the modern age anymore.

I have always found that Edmund's True Market Value - TMV to be the most accurate in my area. But when looking or selling, I compile prices from Edmund's, KBB and NADA.

Here's another one to throw everything off. I follow BringaTrailer.com and have an alert set each time a GX is listed. Now, many of these are super low mileage and go from 20-30k, but once in a while, there have been a few later year "normal" mileage 470s selling for low to mid teens. Most that have sold under 10k have been 2003-4 as most people want the 2005-09 variants. If you search for Lexus GX there, at the bottom of the results is a "dot plot" of what has sold (or not sold).
