We have the 06 GS without Mark Levinson and no other mods. If I buy this map update (I have yet to buy one) I still have to press the I agree button? But newer versions of NAV get this awesome feature???!!

i have always criticized lexus on the 3gs debut, and this is another reason. the nav is a half-*** job, and it should have been gen 5 to begin with together with quite a few other features

I can say with 100% certainity that for gen4 you still have the I Agree button with map dvd 7 (2008 release). I haven't read anything about dvd v8 that is encouraging in terms of the I Agree for gen4.

For me the $200 for 8.1 wouldn't be worth it. I upgraded my 6.1 to 7.1 more than a year ago and have not seen much changes due to places I frequently go are already being well developed.

For the early production date GS's, it's a 4.2 disc for the Generation 4 system. The 4.1 discs were for the Generation 2/3 systems.
Well, for my 2006 RX400h it took my approximately 45 minutes becuase of the number of panels I had to remove in the back. Now we all know pressing the eject button and inserting the new disc is elementary, the panels on the other hand are just cumbersome. Here's the Navigation installation instructions should anyone need them.

Yes, I'd agree as well. Once I discovered the just-released 3GS had the Generation 4 Navigation system (as opposed to the 2IS, Gen 5 equipped released 7 months later) I couldn't help but just stand there scratching my head . My condolences to all those who purchased the first year 3GS - sorry guys.

Do copies of it work? Someone locally is selling one for $30 ( Gen 5)... We'll test it out in a week or so and then Ill post it up for anyone else that needs the Gen 5 disc
