Default Heated Seats - Dealership Issue

I have an CPO 03 GS430 and I noticed that my heated seats weren't putting out any heat at all. I took it into the dealership and they replaced the heating element and the bottom half of the leather seat. So when I get the car back I test out my seat and I dont feel a thing. I take it back to the dealership and they are telling me that they are heating up to 80 degrees. I think I would feel 80 degrees. Now they are trying to tell me that the heated seats on this model GS dont really get that hot.

I feel like that is total crap. Do you guys feel your seats get pretty warm???

I have an 02 GS 300 with heated seats. Unless you dont have rather thick clothing on, you wont feel much. If im in something simple like a t-shirt and soccer shorts, yeah it gets pretty warm.

Mine does not work too well either:

When I drive to work in the morning I can have it on the whole way with out it getting too hot, about 15-20 minutes. It just stays warm.

After work, or when I go to lunch, I have to turn it off after 3 minutes because it gets too hot too fast.

Based on the wife's experiences in the passenger seat it is much more consistent and just stays warm, never too hot.

Weird.

When I first got my GS430 I noticed the seats heaters felt very weak and barely seemed to work, at least compared to my parents Acuras which heat up much quicker and much hotter and have a high/low setting. Many seemed to say the seat heaters are not that powerful in the GS so I just accepted it. Recently though they seem to get a good deal warmer then I remember at first after using them more often so maybe you just have to use them more often to break them in, not sure.

I too experience that sometimes. Do you think whatever you have the temp. you have set is how hot the seat will be?

I was hoping to hear that everyone had some powerful heated seats. I am just going to make my service rep sit in my car and show her what I am talking about.

...working at a lexus dealership, i can tell you this. The seat heaters work off of the inside and outside air temps. The colder it is outside, the warmer your seats will be. On a 50 degree day they wont be near as hot as they would be if it was -2 degrees. Also there are only 2 things that can go wrong, the switch or the element. If the element is coming on then the switch is working. If there is continuty in the element, more times than not, it is ok. I had one the other day that was shorted internally and it got too hot.

Coming from BMWs, the seat heater in my 03 GS430 is disappointing, it might as well not work. The bmw wraps you in complete and instant heat. The lexus just lightly warms up and dies out, it seems.

My GS430's seat heaters are weak and only with 1 setting. My RX has 2 level heated seats and on high it get's really warm, so warm that I have to turn it off after 3 mins.

Thumbs up

Living in AZ, I wish mine had cooling seats! Nothing like burning your *** on a hot seat. Thank God for remote start.

My ex-GF did enjoy the heated seat in winter time, though. And I agree with ironoxide - it's dependent on the temperatures. May not be the best design, but it's better than hearing her say she's freezing all the time.
