Just curious as to why you want the car to lay on the limiter in first gear specifically?

I don't, but when I was playing around with a buddies mustang I went into 3rd twice on accident at exactly the time I shifted to 2nd. It decided to automatically shift up for me putting me into 3rd gear. That was all explained in the first post. Lesson learned is if shifting in manual mode to 2nd gear I will just have to take note to short shift so as not to end up into 3rd gear. So manual mode isn't actually full manual mode in 1st gear which kind of sucks. Seems like possibly the 2016's are different?

I'm starting to think, why bother using manual mode if the car will shift?
Especially when playing with another car and intending to rev limit it.

I have a 2016, no different. Try the pedal dance method for TC off, you might be able to bang off the limiter in 1st.

Designo said his car would NOT shift until commanded 1-2, interesting!

The car will not shift when complete traction is lost. It makes sense completely as that would be catastrophic not only for the gear box but also your safety and control.

I believe once some traction is regained, the auto shift kicks in.

Now, pedal dance? I haven't tried, but something tells me the car will always shift when traction is gained.

Just tried normal/s/s-+ and it shifted after hitting the limiter for a second.

But honestly you have more than enough time to shift after realizing you hit the limiter before it would shift for you. So idk how you could shift late enough to end up in 3rd from 1st. Unless you just aren’t paying attention at all.

In case anyone was wondering, I tested this on the wife's '16 model and it shifted automatically out of first into second. My IS F does NOT do this ever.
