I am finally getting ready to pull the trigger on a 16 or 17 model and had the chance to sit inside a '20 last week. I wanted to make sure i knew what all of the buttons/dials did and how to access everything. It was all where I expected it to be except for one thing (and the salesperson was no help as expected).
All of the models have the **** in the center console which allows switching between eco, sport, and Sport + modes, right? Below that is the TVD button which allows the driver to change the differential into track or slalom modes. Where is the adjustment to the suspension? I've read that the 16 has a fixed suspension and the later models have adjustable dampers, but how do you actually adjust that? Does that just change automatically with the drive mode selector?
i have a 19, honestly cant fell the difference between 16s and 17 etc. it’s probably very minor. Should not be the deciding factor; i would look at history and how clean the car is

I appreciate the advice. That's what i'm leaning towards, even though i probably wont make any changes to the stock suspension (i know some people go with the 16 since they're already planning on doing coilovers). Most likely going to focus on mileage, condition, price, and color combo and forget about the year.
There is a large differnence between the 16 and the newer models in terms of suspension feel. the Newer rides a lot softer. i just drove my 16 and a 17 back to back and was amazed how much softer the 17 can be.
And the '16 is way softer than the '08 IS F. Too soft IMHO. The back end doesn't feel as planted at the IS F from the factory. Given the 8 years they had to figure out the difference, I had higher expectations.

i actually think the suspesnsion is a lot better and car feels more plated than my 08 or 12 isf's, going over the same bumps i would drive in my isf's and the gsf absorbs those a lot better.
It's not about bumps. I've driven the '08 on the track. It's ridiculously solid. The GS F, even on the street wallows in the back well below the limit. It doesn't inspire confidence. I am unimpressed.
