I am new to the team, so there may already be a thread for this...

Which intake did you go with? I really like the carbon fiber look of RR Racing, but I am guessing that Takeda sounds better. Interested in hearing your thoughts on the intake you chose. Cheers!

​​Went with RR Racing for the look and so I can pair it with the RR Racing heatshield.

No noticeable difference in sound but that’s ok because I’m doing headers and full exhaust so the sound is going to be changing in a big way soon anyways.

The only way you will get a difference in intake sound is if you install a cone filter type.
And Takeda offer that.

I thinking about changing the intake too .....but is it worth it? Does it improve anything?

RR Racing claims that the heat reduction nets HP increase from the heat shield. But i am always reluctant to believe a vendor website. Perhaps someone has done their own dyno to support this claim?

We can do the Takeda one for you. We have sold many to RCF/GSF owners.

I went with Tom’s carbon intake, it’s been a while since I’ve had it installed but it did make a small sound difference not a whole lot and I did notice a slight torque increase, more air flow. sound difference will come from headers or a mid pipe

Is there any significant difference between the Tom's intake and the RR Racing elbow? I don't know enough about carbon fiber to know if there would be any appreciable difference.

It looks like RR Racing intake may remove the crankcase vent pipes?

Those are not actually vents, they're air intakes for the crankcase. RR Racing moves the tubes to a small filter at the back of the engine - see the little blue oiled cotton gauze filter behind the engine in their picture? This also changes the engine's tuning. When the tubes pull from the big intake, the MAF measures all the air entering the engine. With the RR Racing setup, the air being pulled through the crankcase is unmetered. Lexus did the same thing on the CCS race cars.

Is there a benefit between these 2 setup? Which one would you prefer?

I am not a fan of oiled gauze filters. They're not very good at filtering IME. They're really good at creating an ongoing maintenance task though. If I wanted to do something like this, I'd keep the OEM configuration.

Thinking about switching it up to the Tom’s setup if there are any long term reliability concerns due to venting the crankcase differently with my RR Racing intake. Aside from maintenance on the mini oiled filter are there other unknowns...maybe someone from RR Racing can weigh in?

I went with the AEM intake with carbon fiber heat shield and never looked back. Great sounds and build quality. Had the RR racing intake elbow and heat shield and returned it. It had fitment issues with the heat shield and couldn't justify it for the money.
