Default Replacing Y Trim on Steering Wheel. Do I have to remove the entire thing?

Been looking at videos and post on the forum and youtube. Ordered the full carbon fiber Y Trim for my steering wheel. All the videos and posts ive seen are removing the entire wheel none for just the Y Trim.

my question to you guys is, in order to do this. does anyone know if I have to remove the entire wheel? or can I get away with removing the airbag and buttons, pull out the Y trim and Replace put the buttons and airbag back and I'm good to go.

thanks in advance for the help

this is the actual Y trim piece. from Elvin Wong who does a lot of steering wheels and overlaying OEM pieces in Carbon Fiber. Basically he has the Y Trim straight from lexus, and overlaid it in carbon fiber. so I'd have to replace the entire Y trim piece it's not a stick on
