Default RPM needle fluctuating 50-75 rpms at stop light normal?

At stoplight always I notice the rpm needle jumping up and down slightly at idle. I took it to dealership and they stated 50 rpm flucatuation is normal. First car with digital gage so wanted to know if all gsf did this. I have a short video but I couldn’t upload it. Any info would be great. Thx.

Do you have your A/C on ? If so, it's your compressor

Mine does this sometimes as well. Sometimes I also feel like the car stalling around 42-44mph, but likely just a shaky gear change? When I took it to Nalley Lexus Smryna (Atlanta) they said another GSF had come in with the idle issue. They were keeping a log, but couldn't recreate it on a test drive.

Pretty unlikely. These A/C compressors do not cycle. They're variable displacement compressors, so there is no clutch on the unit at all.

On second look, sometimes I do see the needle move slightly when at a stop light or completely stopped. Car sounds fine though and doesn't rev on its own or anything.

Mine has been doing this recently as well. Did you take yours in to see if they could diagnose anything? I'm taking mine in tomorrow and told them about the issue, Hoping they can figure something out. Just seems like a slight miss in the ignition to me.

i took it to the dealer and since there was no codes or check engine light, they just stated it was normal and it’s hard to argue as car drives fine. I would like to hear what your dealerships says about the issue.

What fuel are u using? Have you tried using a higher octane fuel and seeing whether this fluctuation stops?

91 octane with no ethanol.

Picking up the car here in a little bit so we'll see if they could find anything. My service rep is a good friend from high school so at least I know he won't BS me.

Quick Reply: RPM needle fluctuating 50-75 rpms at stop light normal?
