New key fob
What’s the best way to get a new key fob? My car only came with one and I’d like to get an extra one. Local Lexus said $390 for a new one. Is that really the cost of keys these days?

This MAY be an option for you for it says it is compatible with the RCF. Maybe worth some investigation.

The GS F key is unique. Maybe the later model RC Fs might work, but they changed something from the current model standard GS and made it difficult which is also why there are no credit card keys for the GS F even though the owner's manual says there is. The only workable credit card keys for the GS F require swapping out the radio module and using Korean market keys on a frequency not authorized for this use in the US.

I know this is a necro thread, but it appears there is finally a credit card key available for the GS F. I will update as soon as I hear from MyLParts, but I ordered one tonight with a new part number that shows this key will work on '16 and '17 GS F models. If it doesn't work, I'll kill this post. If it does, I'll program it and update with the info as soon as I receive it.

89904-30L50 Transmitter Sub-Assembly is what you need for the 2016 and 2107 models. You also need the master key unique to this credit card style unit. It is 69515-30350 for the blank key that fits inside the credit card housing. It will need to be cut by a locksmith or your Lexus dealer. I got both from MyLParts, site sponsor, and they are cutting my key for me using the VIN from the car. This key isn't exactly cheap - I was really surprised to see the standard key down to ~$140 from nearly $300 not long ago, but the card key is still somewhere north of $225 depending on where you buy it.
The card key requires programming to work with your car. Techstream will do this (I will do it for myself because I have a subscription) and usually that means the dealer is going to ask for something to complete this, but I suspect if you have been a regular customer and bring the key with you for a regular service, they might program it free. |
Will it work on 2018 model? |
The only way to know for sure is to call a dealer's parts counter.

Can you post picture of the credit card key?? |
Key arrived today. Looks just like the IS F CC key, but has a completely different FCC ID number.
