Default Insurance - Wrong Model Listed

I recently switched over to State Farm because I found their premium to be much lower than my AllState renewal. The policy documents list the model as a GS 200T, although the VIN on the policy is correct. I told them the model is a GS F but they said it shouldn't be a problem, as long as the VIN is correct it's fine. Has anyone else encountered this issue? I remember having something similar when I got my IS F -- Geico listed it as a IS 350 -- I assumed it was because the model was new at the time and their system didn't have IS F as an option. I also assume my premium is lower because they have it as a 200T vs F?

Obvious risk is if and when you need to file a claim you get denied because of the incorrect listing.
This one should be cleared up, maybe call another State Farm Agent or the home office?
Previous threads have described similar insurance gaps when aftermarket equipment loss claims
are unwilling to cover your BigBucks brand stereo or BlingCity style wheel misfortunes.

I have State Farm and my car is listed correctly. 2016 LEXUS GS F 4DR

Be ready for the rate to jump once it changes!

I've called them twice since it happened to have them correct it and they still just tell me to leave it as is because the VIN is good. I may have them send me an email to confirm this so that if something happens (fingers crossed nothing does), I won't get screwed.

This happened a lot with Scion cars when they first came out, and my IS F was initially an IS350, but has since been corrected. My premiums did not change when they fixed their clerical error at Allstate.

IMO this might vary depending on the state (insurance regs) etc. Also in some cases it might be a violation of a contract, particularly if you paid in full up front, gave them the VIN, and they effed it up. So if anything it might only jump when you renew the policy. I can see a douche company trying to dump someone (and sending a refund) but that kind of fiasco would make the insurer look very bad... because the mistake is literally all their fault.

You will be ok with statefarm. I just had my RCF totaled and the whole time it was listed as RC 350 but with my RCF VIN. They say they go by the VIN not description. If you ever do have body damage and bringing it to a shop, better tell them the correct model

Thanks, they said the same to me, they go by VIN. Either way, just hoping I never have to talk them again until renewal time!

I had similar situation, my 2015 RCF with State Farm. In 2015 it was a weird designation now its listed as an RC350. But like others have said it's no problem because they truly identify the car by VIN.

Question GSF Insurance rates

Just out of curiosity what is everyone paying for their GS-F. I am seriously considering switching from Travelers, because $200/month sounds ridiculously high for a new GSF.

You may want to try AAA. I pay about 145/month

Mine is even more expensive than that... Can’t believe switching from a 2016 M5 to a GSF resulted in over $100 a month increase...

Any theories as to why it’s so expensive?

From the research that i have done so far, it seems that this is all over TX. Premium have gone up ever after the floods and hurricanes that clobbered Houston.
I was also told by the insurance agent that TX is the Highest when it comes to Insurance Premiums, so unfortunately everyone is feeling the heat.
Makes me want to move states cause i am so mad about HIGH premiums!!!
