Default DRLs a little weak?

Is it me or does anyone else think that the LED DRLs are a little weak in light output compared to the DRLs on most vehicles (even other Lexus vehicles) on the road today?
On a car like this with the aggressive looking design of the headlights, I'd expect a little more oomph.

This is the only complaint I can muster about the car

No opinions? Well I'm going to take matter into my own hands. I've done a few headlight retrofits in the past with extensive LED and circuit design so this is my next challenge.

I searched and found nothing, so I think this will be the first and possibly only GSF headlight retrofit. I bought a single GSF headlight on eBay that was broken from an accident so I'm going to see how difficult it is to open and upgrade the LEDs.

I turned off the DRLs in my car. IMHO, they are completely worthless at any latitude south of 45 degrees.

Right, they look fine at night but during the day you can barely seem them especially in the sun.

How did you disable yours, pulling the fuse?

Techstream. It's an LPS setting. There is no way to pull a fuse without disabling a whole lot more that I know about.

Guys - If I am not mistaken, I was able to turn mine on/off by selecting: Menu - Setup - Vehicle - Vehicle Customization then Light Settings. There you can select on or off. On is the factory default setting.

Very interested to see if you're able to upgrade the LED's. I like the way they look too much to turn it off.

You're right. I was thinking I was in the IS F forum - that car requires Techstream to disable the DRLs. The GS F allows you to do this through the owner menus.

Me too, will update as soon as I get them and take a look at how to open them. I'm expecting them sometime next week.

Guess what came early? Pleasantly surprised for the headlight to arrive on Today (rather than next week) so I can play around with it over the weekend. These things are massive because the LED assembly is included. These are by far the largest headlight assemblies I've ever worked on.

I was expecting these lights to be locked down like Fort Knox, but Lexus did me a favor and made these incredibly easy to open - literally within 5 minutes. To put it into perspective, it's taken me hours to open others with the type of sealant that they used.

Here's a view of the headlights opened

And here are the culprits, those LEDs I will have to replace with something that fits in that space.

Looks like 15 per side. That's going to be fun...

Might be helpful to befriend and engineer at Koito for the latest and greatest available stuff.
