Oh well, I got fed up eventually trying to wiggle my way out of this one with a home made remedy.

I just went ahead and ordered a new Box from AFe for 140 bucks (Part # 05-T2017C2 Housing: TR-2017B-R).
And then ordered a new Pro Dry S filter (Part # TF-9027D) as well for another 80 bucks.
Then headed to the dealer and placed an order for a new OEM Airbox for 170 bucks (Part # 1770138171)

Thought my baby deserved to be refreshed properly after all these years of service and reliability.

 

Good call! Instead of improvising with homemade remedies; worth the money!

 

The AFe Pro Dry filter arrived. The Takeda Airbox is on back order August, and the OEM same. They said 30 days.

 

Got back from my vacation on Thursday to see all the goodies have arrived. Took car in today and it's all done.
Finally, the engine bay is worth washing and detailing!
