How Cold Is Your AC?

I have a 2013 GS with 80k. I am surprised that the AC isnt as cold as it what I feel it should be. I really believe that if I take it in, they will tell me its within specs. I do realize that measuring how cold ones AC is quite variable. Whats cold to you may not be cold to me etc... Whats your thoughts on your AC system. Is it cold enough for your liking when its 80+ degrees outside?

The A/C on my 2013 GS works great and is plenty cold...even when the ambient temperature is well over 100°, which is often in the summer months here in Dallas, Texas.

You should check your air conditioner's temperature at the vents to see if the system is providing proper cooling.

When I first got my 2014 I complained to lexus about my ac not being cold enough. Coming from my 2008 gs350 whose ac was ice cold, i figured my 2014 should be just as cold. Unfortunately no it's not and probably never will be. They measured my ac and said it was within spec and even made sure my refrigerant was still topped off. My service advisor did recommend that I keep the S flow off because that lowers the amount of Ac used. I did notice a slight difference when the S flow was off.

It makes a big difference when a car is parked outside in the heat all day especially if it was hot and humid at night. The entire car is hot, even the inside plumbing is radiating heat so the AC never feels like it is blowing cold air because the cold air is being warmed by all the heat in the car that takes a long time to cool down, if you drive for a relatively short time, then park, the whole cycle just starts again and your car never feels like it is really cooling down or your AC is working that well. I have had this happen before when the car was parked outside all day/night and it was 80+ the entire time. I thought there was something wrong with my AC too but it was working and within specs and not low on refrigerant. It happened on my GS430 and GS350 and pretty much happens with all cars especially with darker interiors. It can take over a hour of steady driving before that stuff finally cools down and stops radiating heat and you really feel the AC. Then you notice on cooler days/cooler nights or when the car has not been sitting out all day that the AC seems to be working very well, because the interior, especially the plumbing, vents are not so hot and not radiating heat.

Mine is ice cold, consider checking your cabin filter - remove it all together and see if that makes a difference. A blocked filter would limit flow and not temperature but it's worth a try.

Make sure S-Flow is off, and you are not in ECO mode. i put my car in Sport and it cools faster. I also use remote start before I leave anywhere hot.

I have 2013 GS, my AC is total crap.

My AC is ICE cold even with eco and s flow on if turned down low enough. Turn off eco and it gets cold even quicker. I've never tried testing it down at lo but 68 always low enough to feel cold. I usually leave it around 76 though

I wonder if they changed anything between years on the HVAC system.... Of course they changed engines, sooo.....

The AC on my 15 and now my 19 have been fantastic. Nice and cold.

2015 Here and it gets cold enough to run me out of the car. It was 100°F in Dallas today and I was chilly with it set to 78°F.

My AC is icy at any temp below 75°. It's just annoying how the temp rises for a few seconds when the car hits WOT. I've never had any other car's HVAC temp rise enough to be noticeable like this one does.

I love it cold in my house and my car and my 2013 GS350 has never disappointed me. I usually keep it at 70 degrees. Occasionally I have to turn it up to 72 or 73 because it’s too cold for me. This is with s flow on. If your ac is not cold enough I’d have it checked out. Or maybe you live in a super hot environment... not sure.
