Oil filter
I just did an oil change and I used a filter that I got from a Toyota dealer instead of Lexus (Toyota dealer is around the corner). Question is, I got what I thought was the right filter (04152 yzza1) but when i compared it to the one that was already in the car it was about 1/2 inch shorter. Two questions...is that the correct part number? and is it going to matter that the filter is a tad shorter than the one I would get from the Lexus dealer? Lesson learned going forward, just go to the Lexus dealer for Lexus parts.

It's compatible with

2016 Lexus GS200t 4 Cyl 2.0L, 6 Cyl 3.5L
2018 Lexus GS300

2015-2018 Lexus GS450h

Toyota dealer and Lexus dealer sells the exact the same parts.. sometimes higher markup at Lexus.
I have an AWD, so YZZA5 is what I need - RWD uses a different filter. But if you give them your VIN, the dealer should have no problems telling you which you need.

Correct. I have a 17 AWD and the correct filter is YZZA5 as you say. Only weirdness which I had to research is sometimes you find an "a2" filter inside a YZZA5. It's actually the same filter but for some reason Toyota just changed the part number to YZZA5 even though it's the same filter.
See below from an old post....
Note: The above noted part number replaces old Part# 15613-YZZA2, but this old part number is oftentimes still shipped in a box with the 04152-YZZA5 label.

for the 4th gen GS (pre refresh, not sure about post) 04152-YZZA5 and 04152-YZZA3 contain the same filter. YZZA5 is for AWD and YZZA3 is for RWD. the AWD YZZA5 box contains extra stuff inside for the oil change process that you don’t need for the RWD. the actual filter is the same. usually the filter is stamped 15613-YZZA2

Went to the Lexus dealer today to get a filter for my wife's Ct200h and got another filter for my GS for next oil change. They used my vin number and said I needed the A3 filter. Hoping that having the A1 filter in it now isnt going to cause any issues over the next 5k miles when I change the oil again...

Yes, I have. So? Defining the 'best' filter is much like saying that Tide is the best clothes washing detergent, or Shell is the best gasoline, or Michelin is the best tire, or...
I [do] think that WIX oil filters are some of the better filters on the market, but I seriously doubt that 10 out of 10 people doing extensive tests and reviews of oil filters would agree that WIX is 'the best filter'. In fact, probably less than 5 of those 10 would state that WIX is the best. Just sayin'...
