How to turn off horn beep when unlocking
I just bought a 2013 GS 350. When I lock or unlock with the key fob or touch the handle, I hear both the usual electronic beep AND the horn beeps once or twice (depending on if I'm locking or unlocking). Why both? How can I turn off the horn? It is too loud in my parking garage.
Does everyone's GS do this? I didn't notice this on my test drive.

To be clear, the honk and the beep happen simultaneously. I can adjust the beep volume level in personalized settings but don't see how to adjust the honk.
It is certified so I don't think there is any aftermarket items on it.

I don't think the horn sounding is normal. I'm wondering if the previous owner had it done...

There was an aftermarket alarm on my Lcertified Lexus that was causing the horn to sound when locking, unlocking, and just walking near the car. Lexus dealer initially said they wouldn't touch it but after talking with service manager about how this was a certified car that shouldn't have aftermarket stuff, they did remove it for me at no cost. I am happy that I just hear the usual Lexus beep now...ahhh.
Now that I've driven the car about 10 days, I am falling in love with how it drives. I traded in a 2007 LS 460 for this. The GS 350 is smooth as glass at highway speeds and a thrill to drive on a twisty road.

I figured an aftermarket alarm had been installed by the previous owner. Glad you got it taken care of to your satisfaction...

You may be asking the wrong question, I would want to know what was installed. I doubt it was an alarm, sounds like you had an aftermarket remote start. Those systems are integrated into the factory alarm so that you can use the key fob to start the car. Did you ever hit the lock button three times? Something tells me if you did the car would have started.
