Thanks! I, for one, will be interested in hearing what caused it ... and if there is an easily explained fix.

its a tradeoff. ease of autohold vs equipment issues over a manual lever

This happened to my loaner NX too, also with auto parking brake and auto hold. Interested in the answers too. My old GS made it to 3 yrs without issues and now my RC has the manual lever parking brake.

Soooo I spoke to Lexus today and they told me that it has happened before and it痴 an internal component that is electrical (given in the name as if I didn稚 know that) and it must be ordered and fixed by Lexus. I asked if there was anything I could have done to prevent it and they said no. Hit or miss situation. Wasn稚 thrilled with the answer. But it痴 not anything we could do ourselves. I値l get my car back at the end of next week 🤕 I forgot to ask what the cost would be if I wasn稚 in a warranty but I値l find that out for you guys on Monday.

I am curious as to how hard it would be for one to fix this themselves since it sounds like a common problem.

So.... LEXUS thought they fixed the issue and reset the electronic parking brake...had the car a week and the light went back on. Took it back and they have ordered the entire parking brake component and will replace the faulty one...I will finally have my GS back on Wednesday or Thursday, barring no set backs. They could not explain why the electronic parking brake was going off..they saw nothing that was alarming. Guess it was a faulty component... 😕

Thanks for the update. I guess it's just one of those unexplainable things that happen from time-to-time...
