Default Electronic Parking Brake Malfunction

Hey everyone! So I literally just turned my car on and the Electronice Parking Brake Malfunction light turned on. Any clue to how this happened? I’m planning on going to Lexus in the morning to get this addressed. I’m not sure if it’s something I did or not...

Tell us more. You said you turned the car On - did you turn the Accessory On, or the Ignition On or did you actually crank the engine up? Were you able to get the electronic parking brake Off, or is it still engaged? If the parking brake is still engaged how are you planning to drive it to the Lexus dealership tomorrow morning? You need to give us more of the details.

The car was parked. Me and my wife went to have dinner and I got in and turned the car on and the light said malfunction. I drove home. I got to the house turned the car on and moved it up and down the driveway. So the car is able to move. The light is still on. I’ll take a picture of it.

Visiting the dealer is definitely what you need to do. I was hoping the parking brake was not preventing you from being able to drive the car.

It isn’t preventing me from driving. I can drive but the light is on. Just weird. I have 34k miles and I’m on my 4th year of the lease, so I doubt it’s natural wear and tear on the car. I pushed the auto brake button and the screen says parking brake unavailable.

I had a bad battery once and the light came on. Once I put in the new battery, it we not away. Hope it's that simple.

I thought it may be a bad battery too until I saw his late model instrument cluster (indicating a reasonably new battery) and he said he was able to crank it up and drive the car. Must be something else...

haha I say that because I’m in the final year of my lease. They’ve been reaching out to me asking me to bring it in for a trade in lol but if I stood with Lexus, I’d go for the F.

everything’s under warranty, so it’ll be fixed but I am curious to know what the hell happened. Never had an issue with it...so we’ll soon find out, I’ll keep you guys posted...I’ll find out if there’s an alert native fix to it as well in the event that this because an issue for others...and they can’t get to a dealer.
