If i were going down the performance modification route, i'd start small with an intake and Apexi Controller. Then if I still had the mod itch, go for wheels/tires and finally exhaust:
  • Intake: Takeda/AFE, HPS intakes are popular on the 4GS
  • The Apexi Acel Controller which helps adjust the sensitivity of the throttle giving you that get up and go feeling.
  • Bigger/wider wheels and tires and a drop/lowering the car using RSR Downs, Tanabe and Swift springs are also a popular modification.
  • Exhaust: Tanabe, JoeZ, Invidia, Borla (not necessarily in that order) are popular on the 4GS

I think the stock intake on the GS and IS is a cold air intake. According to what I read they said aftermarket intake only makes the car louder but no performance gains

Intake is a waste of money negligible hp gain, just for sound.
Exhaust only worth doing for hp gain if you do headers and full exhaust.
Apexi Acel Controller is a waste of money, no hp gain, destroy throttle controller.
Super charger for real hp gain
You can add all the above, but without a tune it's mostly useless.

I’m thinking of doing a cat back exhaust first and maybe a rune. Do you have a certain exhaust and tune you recommend ?

I have JoeZ full catback. The drone is unbearable. Don't recommend it. Gunning it sounds great though. IMO, getting any real performance gains from 4G GS is futile. Just sell your car and get a GS F if you want more power.

This. All of it. So much snake oil otherwise.

At current prices it still makes more sense to supercharge your existing GS350 than to go after a GS-F solely on the basis of power.

Yes, if you search about the apexi controller, some folks have had problems with their cars after using it for a few years...

This is true - plus it looks like the supercharge works with AWD models. Has anyone with AWD done the supercharge? Its still a decent amount of coin (close to $8000 all-in after install).

I think RR racing is the only place offering a tune. RR Racing

It is a bit more than that even with my expedition into the water/meth world.

It is faster and hp is up ~150 at the wheels. I did full exhaust as well. With the double pane windows in my F-Sport the drone is noticeable but the music drowns it out nicely.
