Power Trunk Retrofit

Yeah, when I press on rear defogger button, rear window does not defog. Outside mirrors works though. Thanks for diagram but I have no idea how to remove all the panels to get to it. Oh well, guess I'll just leave it as is. I live in Southern California and always park in garage so I rarely need to use defogger.

I’m not referring to the motor that raises and lowers the entire lid. I have the power trunk on my GS and there are two parts to it. The first being the motorized lid itself, the second being the motorized latch.
The motorized latch is definitely pictured above but I thought all GS’ had this with or without the power trunk option.

The parts from Japan came in today. Did not realize how large and heavy the part is, weights 7.7 lbs, my key fob for comparison. All parts ready to be installed.

Please take detailed pictures when you do this, things you need to modify/cut.
I would love to add the power trunk close.

Did a test fitment of the parts today. Here is an overview on how it looks like all connected.
All the connectors connected except the trunk opener assembly connector. I got it from Japan and it has a is different connector than the one I have in my USA harness. Both connectors have 26 pins.
The wires look to be of a higher gauge on the American harness. I'll need to figure out what wiring is for what and re-crimp them properly. Pain in the butt but hopefully worth it. Patience is a virtue I guess.
EDIT #1 :
TIS shows the Japanese connector (90980-12444) instead of the USA one... what? I have the wiring for this connector but not for the connector on my wiring harness. Need it to compare, ugh.
EDIT #2:
Looks like 90980-12444 is for cars produced after Oct. 2015 and has nothing to do with Japanese vs American. Oddly enough... there is no "Closer" for cars produced before 2015. I smell something fishy here. Didn't the GS have power trunk closer in 2014+ in Canada and USA?
EDIT #3:
Hmm... Although "and Closer" was not listed above, it was listed as a sub-component ( ) and goes back to the same connector above. So what the bleep is the connector on my harness?
EDIT #4:
Okay, I found the connector. I think the connector on my harness interfaces with the pre-existing wiring in my car. And the car should in theory have the connector that plugs into the opener assembly. That makes sense to me. I guess I'll find out next weekend when I go at this again.

Looking forward to finding out the location of the harness plug and if your car already has it. Also if the bolt holes for the power trunk motor already exist. Please take pictures of the location of these parts. If so I might check my 2013, since the option was avaliable internationally. Just like the power folding side mirror mod I did, might just be plug and play.
I'd probably only do this mod if I can find the junkyard special. I've seen quite a few lux models thru car-parts.com, maybe some have the power trunk.

The Lexus ES trunk lid actuator looks exactly the same as the one for the GS:

Makes me wonder if the motor is the same?

It's silly that Lexus took away power trunk and power side mirror for 2013 when the previous generation had it, then add it a year or so later.
They did similar crap with the 2019 ES, has power trunk but no power folding side mirrors, I bet in the next year or 2 they will add power folding side mirrors like it's this amazing new feature.
